NetApp celebrates the spirit of innovation and diversity among students through our Women Innovathon. We invite you to share your unique ideas with us which will impact the data driven world. It can be a simple idea towards data management, a game-changer in the cloud or anything that is close to your heart!
You have one month to register, team up and ideate. If your idea is selected, mentors from NetApp will guide you towards implementation of your idea and you will have an opportunity to pitch your solutions to NetApp leaders.
ELIGIBILITY
Female students ONLY from India-based academic institutes with unique ideas can register individually or as a team of up to four.

- B.E./ B. Tech – first, second and third year students
- Dual Degree – first, second, third & fourth-year students
- MCA – first and second year students
- M.E./ M. Tech – first year students
- Ph.D students

The importance of innovation and developing new solutions that take advantage of data, advanced analytics, digital technologies, and new delivery platforms has never been more important. Simplicity and Efficiency are the key components of any modern solutions. This theme accentuates your imagination with least restrictions.
Data is the new currency of this era. Build your new innovation in the space of data such as Predictive data analytics, digital technology, blockchain, autonomous driving, remote health monitoring, Image processing, augmented reality and so on. This theme invites ideas across any domain relevant to NetApp’s business functions (technical and non-technical).
The rapidly changing customer needs are forcing organizations to evolve and adapt Cloud. Cloud offers analytics, functional programming, IoT and low code platforms. It is essential for informed decision making. You are expected to come up with innovative ideas in the cloud space.
Cloud is no longer a niche space that is only available to a select few. From a simple pet project to a large organization running thousands of microservices, cloud is the name of the game, and with it come challenges such as security, cost-management, compliance and sustainability.
Intelligent data-driven disruption is at the forefront of corporate strategies. Using data to capture new opportunities requires a strategic focus on business-critical data. Different companies are carrying out a variety of business-led initiatives using efficient data management with the focus on scalability, performance, data protection and Big data processing.
They are trying to solve the challenges around efficiency, redundancy, speed, cost, compliance and areas like data security. Data-breaches are almost a daily news and the implications – some involving money, some legal, some reputation and some mix of all. Enterprises invest heavily on data security to protect the data against cyber threat, maintain availability of data through denial-of-service attacks, theft, data loss, unintended destruction, intrusion detection, business continuity, SSL encryption etc.
Artificial Intelligence is the art of training machines to perceive, synthesize, and infer information to demonstrate intelligence. Today, it plays a prominent role in several use cases ranging from medical sciences for malignant tumour detection to entertainment for strategic games like chess to banking & finance for stock market predictions.
Your focus for this innovation challenge is to come up with ideas that will improve existing AI Models and Technology to increase the intelligence and accuracy of machines to help advance/create new solutions. This includes but is not limited to Natural Language Processing, Recommendation systems, Computer Vision, and Image recognition.
RULES
- This Innovathon is for FEMALE students only. Check eligibility above.
- You have to first register for this Innovathon by clicking on the ‘APPLY’ button on the top. Registrations can be done between 27th Dec, 2022 – 25th Jan, 2023.
- Once you register, you will be given dashboard access to create a team and submit your idea.
- You can apply solo too or have a team of upto 4 members.
- Idea submissions can be done in PDF format only from 26th Jan – 5th Feb, 2023.
- You can only team up (join or form teams) with the candidates who have registered for the Innovathon. Make sure all your team members are women and fall under the eligibility criteria.
- You can invite your friends via the “Share with a friend” option at the bottom of this page or by simply sharing this page URL with them.
- Submitting the idea description is mandatory. If you are able to build something like an MVP (prototype), you can submit the source codes and other fields as well. Please note that submitting the prototype is optional for this round. So if you are able to make a prototype before this round ends, you can go ahead and submit it. However, submitting a prototype will not bear any added advantage.
- The final date for the idea submission round is 5th Feb, 2023. You need to form teams and give your submissions before this time.
- For this Innovathon, you are expected to come up with unique and innovative ideas. Plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
In case you want to submit a prototype and you require a dataset, you can use an external open-source dataset.
